Pregnancy & Your Beauty Routine: Which Treatments Are Safe?

Your guide to pregnancy-friendly skincare, brows, and lashes at Fox Beauty Studios in Oregon City, Oregon.

First of all, congratulations, mama! 💗 Growing a tiny human is a big job, and you deserve a little extra care along the way.

Pregnancy can bring all kinds of changes to your skin, from unexpected breakouts and dryness to increased sensitivity, pigmentation, and changes in your lashes and brows. And just when you're ready to book a little self-care, you may find yourself wondering which beauty treatments are still okay.

As a mom of two myself, I understand wanting to make thoughtful choices for both you and your baby. When it comes to pregnancy and beauty treatments, I'd rather take a conservative approach than recommend a treatment when the safety information isn't clear.

Here's how I approach pregnancy and my service menu, trimester by trimester.

First Trimester: Let's Keep It Simple

The first trimester is a time of significant development for your baby. Hormonal changes can also make your skin more reactive than usual, even if you've never considered yourself sensitive.

Because research on many cosmetic treatments during pregnancy is limited, I recommend keeping beauty treatments to a minimum during the first trimester.

My recommendations:

  • Eyebrow Wax: This is the service I'm most comfortable considering during the first trimester, provided your skin is healthy and you aren't experiencing unusual irritation or sensitivity. Waxing is generally considered an acceptable hair-removal method during pregnancy.

  • Facials: I recommend postponing elective facial treatments until the second trimester so I can take a more conservative approach to your skincare and treatment choices.

What about lash lifts and tints?

I recommend waiting until at least the second trimester before considering a lash lift and tint. Pregnancy-related hormonal changes can affect your skin, hair, and how your body responds to products. There's also limited research specifically establishing the safety of lash-lifting and tinting products during pregnancy.

This is a precautionary recommendation, not a claim that a lash lift has been proven to harm a developing baby.

Second Trimester: A Little More Room for Self-Care

The second trimester is when I may be comfortable offering select services to clients with uncomplicated pregnancies, provided I review the products involved, discuss any concerns, and make appropriate adjustments.

Your comfort and your healthcare provider's guidance always come first.

Facial Treatments

Moisture + Relax Facial

Pregnancy can leave your skin feeling dry, tight, or simply different from what you're used to. A gentle, hydrating facial may be an option during the second trimester when I select appropriate products and avoid ingredients or techniques that aren't suitable for pregnancy.

Vitamin Facial

If your complexion is looking dull or feeling dehydrated, I can discuss a modified treatment using carefully selected ingredients. I'll need to review the specific vitamin products and active ingredients before proceeding.

I don't automatically recommend every facial simply because you're in your second trimester. I want to make sure the products and techniques are appropriate for you, and I'll leave out anything with uncertain safety.

Brows

Eyebrow Wax

Waxing remains an option for many pregnant clients. However, pregnancy can increase skin sensitivity, so I may need to adjust my approach or postpone waxing if your skin is particularly reactive.

Brow Tinting and Lamination

I take a more cautious approach to chemical brow treatments during pregnancy because pregnancy-specific safety research is limited. I'll discuss the products involved with you and help you decide whether postponing the service is the better choice.

Lashes

Korean Lash Lift + Tint

If you're considering a lash lift, the second trimester is the earliest stage at which I'd consider scheduling one. Before booking, I recommend discussing the treatment with your prenatal healthcare provider. I'll also review the product instructions, follow appropriate patch-testing guidance, and consider any changes in your sensitivity.

Please know that waiting until the second trimester doesn't automatically make a lash lift or tint proven safe during pregnancy. If I have concerns about the ingredients or your individual circumstances, I'll recommend waiting until after pregnancy.

Lash Extensions

Lash extension adhesives haven't been adequately studied for use during pregnancy. Because the service involves prolonged close-eye exposure to adhesive products, I recommend postponing extensions during pregnancy rather than assuming they're risk-free.

Treatments I Recommend Postponing Throughout Pregnancy

Some of my services are more intensive or involve ingredients and techniques that warrant additional caution.

During pregnancy, I recommend postponing:

  • Nano Needling: Microneedling-type procedures are not recommended during pregnancy.

  • Green Sea Peel: I recommend postponing this exfoliating treatment because its specific formulation and pregnancy safety need to be considered.

  • Vtox Lifting + Tightening: I recommend waiting until after pregnancy because the ingredients and techniques need individual safety review.

  • Brow Lamination: I recommend postponing this chemical treatment because pregnancy-specific safety information is limited.

When it comes to elective beauty treatments, waiting is often the simplest and most reassuring choice.

Third Trimester: My Recommendation Is to Pause All Services

By the third trimester, your body is working overtime. Your growing belly, changing circulation, swelling, and difficulty finding a comfortable position can make even a familiar beauty appointment feel different.

At Fox Beauty Studios, I recommend postponing all elective services during the third trimester.

This includes facials, waxing, brow treatments, lash lifts, lash tints, and extensions.

Here's why.

Comfort and positioning

All of my services are performed with you lying on your back. As your pregnancy progresses, remaining on your back for an extended period may become uncomfortable and, in some circumstances, can compress a major blood vessel called the inferior vena cava. This can cause dizziness or nausea and may affect blood flow back to your heart.

Even though I want you to feel relaxed and comfortable during your appointment, I can't guarantee that lying on your back for the duration of a service will be appropriate during late pregnancy.

Increased skin sensitivity

Hormonal and vascular changes can make your skin more reactive. Waxing and chemical treatments may produce a different response than they did before pregnancy, even if you've received those services many times before.

Limited safety research

Many elective cosmetic treatments haven't been adequately studied in pregnant clients. When a treatment can wait, I believe it's reasonable to choose the more cautious option.

You have enough on your plate

Between preparing for baby, managing your changing body, and getting ready for delivery, you deserve to prioritize your comfort. There's no need to squeeze in one more appointment when your body is asking you to slow down.

My third-trimester pause is a conservative studio policy, not a statement that every beauty treatment has been proven dangerous late in pregnancy.

I'll look forward to welcoming you back when you're ready after baby arrives!

A Few Pregnancy Skincare Tips

You don't have to give up on your skin just because your routine needs a little adjustment.

  • Keep it gentle. A mild cleanser and a moisturizer suited to your skin can go a long way.

  • Wear sunscreen. Daily broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher helps protect against pregnancy-related pigmentation changes.

  • Review your ingredients. Avoid retinoids during pregnancy, and ask your healthcare provider about ingredients you're unsure of.

  • Don't chase every breakout. Pregnancy-related acne and pigmentation can be frustrating, but aggressive treatments aren't always the answer.

  • Ask before trying something new. Your OB-GYN or midwife can help you evaluate skincare ingredients and treatments for your individual pregnancy.

Have Questions About a Service?

Every pregnancy is different, and I never want you to feel uncomfortable asking whether a treatment is appropriate for you.

If you're expecting and wondering what you can book, reach out before scheduling. I'm happy to walk you through your options, review the products involved, and help you decide whether to proceed or wait.

My goal is always the same: to help you feel comfortable and cared for, without compromising the cautious approach I believe is important during pregnancy.

Congratulations again, mama. Take care of yourself, give yourself some grace, and remember that it's okay to press pause on beauty treatments while you focus on growing your little one. 💗

Please note: This article provides general educational information, not medical advice. Pregnancy-related treatment decisions should be discussed with your prenatal healthcare provider. Individual health circumstances, product formulations, and manufacturer instructions may affect whether a service is appropriate.

xoxo

What Is a Korean Facial? What to Expect Before, During & After Your Treatment

You’ve probably heard the term Korean facial or Korean skincare more and more lately—but what actually makes a facial Korean?

It’s not about having a specific skin type or using a dozen products.

A Korean facial is rooted in a skin-first philosophy: focus on hydration, nourishment, barrier support, gentle exfoliation, and long-term skin health rather than simply trying to “fix” your skin as aggressively as possible.

At Fox Beauty Studios in downtown Oregon City, I incorporate these principles into customized facial treatments designed around what your skin actually needs that day.

What Makes a Korean Facial Different?

Traditional facials can vary tremendously, but Korean-inspired skincare tends to emphasize layering hydration, thoughtful ingredients, gentle techniques, and maintaining a healthy skin barrier.

Instead of approaching every client with the same treatment, the goal is to understand your skin and customize the experience.

That might mean focusing on:

  • Hydration

  • Congestion

  • Dullness

  • Uneven texture

  • Brightening

  • Skin barrier support

  • Signs of aging

  • Overall skin health

And sometimes your skin doesn't need an aggressive treatment at all.

Sometimes it needs to calm down and drink up some hydration.

What Happens During a Korean Facial?

Your facial is customized based on your skin, concerns, and goals, but you can generally expect several key steps.

Double Cleansing

Cleansing twice allows us to thoroughly remove makeup, sunscreen, oil, and daily buildup before moving into the treatment.

It's an important part of Korean skincare because clean skin is the foundation for everything that comes next.

Exfoliation

Exfoliation helps remove dead surface cells and improve the appearance of dullness and texture.

The type and intensity of exfoliation are selected based on your skin—not because your facial “always includes” a particular exfoliant.

Targeted Treatments

This is where your facial becomes truly customized.

Depending on your skin, I may incorporate targeted serums, ampoules, masks, or other professional treatments designed to address your specific concerns.

Hydration + Barrier Support

Layering lightweight hydrating products is a major part of Korean skincare.

Ingredients such as cica, beta-glucan, ceramides, peptides, panthenol, and hyaluronic acid can help support hydrated, comfortable, healthy-looking skin.

Facial + Scalp Massage

And yes, I am absolutely going to make time for the relaxing part.

Facial massage and a soothing scalp massage are incorporated into my facials because skincare should feel good, too.

Do You Need a 10-Step Routine to Benefit From Korean Skincare?

Absolutely not.

This is one of my favorite misconceptions to clear up.

Korean skincare is often associated with elaborate 10-step routines, but the philosophy is really about being intentional with your skin.

You don't need ten products.

You need the right products.

A simple routine consisting of cleansing, hydration, targeted treatment, moisturizer, and SPF can be incredibly effective.

Who Should Get a Korean Facial?

A Korean-inspired facial can be a great option for anyone who wants to improve the overall look and feel of their skin.

It can be especially helpful if you're dealing with:

  • Dehydration

  • Dullness

  • Congestion

  • Uneven texture

  • Uneven-looking skin tone

  • Dryness

  • Signs of aging

  • A stressed or compromised-looking skin barrier

The treatment can also simply be a great way to maintain healthy-looking skin.

You don't have to wait until something is “wrong” with your skin to get a facial.

How Often Should You Get a Korean Facial?

For ongoing skin maintenance, many clients benefit from professional facials approximately every 4–6 weeks.

But there isn't one magic schedule.

Your ideal frequency depends on your skin, your goals, your home routine, and the treatments you're receiving.

The goal isn't to constantly treat your skin.

It's to support it consistently.

The Fox Beauty Studios Approach

For me, a Korean-inspired facial isn't about following a rigid checklist.

It's about combining effective ingredients, thoughtful techniques, customized treatments, and a little relaxation to create a facial that makes sense for your skin.

Your skin changes.

Your facial should be able to change with it.

If you're looking for a Korean facial in Oregon City, Fox Beauty Studios offers customized facial treatments in a private studio in downtown Oregon City.

Healthy-looking skin isn't about doing more. It's about doing what your skin actually needs.

Green Sea Peel: Benefits, Results & What to Expect After Treatment

Green Sea Peel: Benefits, Recovery, Peeling & Aftercare

If your skin has been looking dull, feeling congested, or struggling with uneven texture, the Green Sea Peel might be worth exploring.

This is one of those treatments that can be appealing when a traditional facial just isn't enough to address what you're seeing in the mirror. The Green Sea Peel is a professional resurfacing treatment that uses microscopic marine-derived spicules to encourage skin renewal and improve the appearance of texture, tone, and overall clarity.

But I want to be upfront about something: this isn't a facial where you leave with a little glow and immediately go about your day without a second thought. The Green Sea Peel can cause prickling, redness, dryness, and several days of peeling. Knowing what to expect before you book makes a big difference.

Let's talk about how it works, what it can help with, and what you'll need to do afterward to care for your skin.

What Is a Green Sea Peel?

The Green Sea Peel is a professional, spicule-based resurfacing treatment that uses microscopic structures derived from marine sponges. During the treatment, these tiny structures are worked into the skin to stimulate a renewal response.

You may have heard this type of treatment called “liquid microneedling.” Despite the nickname, there isn't a microneedling device or needle cartridge involved. Instead, the microscopic spicules interact with the superficial layers of the skin, creating a prickly sensation and encouraging the skin's natural renewal process.

The goal is to improve the appearance of dullness, uneven texture, congestion, and certain types of discoloration.

And yes, the treatment can feel pretty spicy! That prickly sensation is one of the most talked-about parts of the experience. It can continue after you leave the studio, so this is definitely a treatment where understanding the recovery process matters.

Green Sea Peel Benefits

One of the reasons I'm interested in resurfacing treatments is that they can address several skin concerns at once. Rather than focusing on just one issue, the Green Sea Peel is designed to improve the overall appearance and feel of the skin.

Of course, everyone's skin is different. Your results will depend on your starting point, skin condition, treatment protocol, and how well you follow your aftercare instructions.

Improves Skin Texture

If your skin feels rough, looks bumpy, or just doesn't seem as smooth as it used to, texture may be part of the problem.

The Green Sea Peel encourages the shedding of surface skin cells as part of the renewal process. As your skin recovers, you may notice that it feels smoother and looks more refined.

This can be especially appealing if your regular skincare routine isn't doing enough to address persistent roughness or uneven texture.

Brightens Dull-Looking Skin

Sometimes your skin just looks tired, even when you're doing all the right things.

A buildup of surface skin cells can contribute to a dull complexion. By encouraging skin renewal, the Green Sea Peel may help reveal a fresher, brighter-looking complexion as the recovery process progresses.

The glow isn't necessarily immediate, though. Your skin needs time to work through the initial redness, dryness, and peeling before you can properly appreciate the results.

Helps Improve the Appearance of Uneven Skin Tone

Post-acne marks and uneven pigmentation can be frustrating, especially when they seem to hang around long after a breakout has disappeared.

The Green Sea Peel may help improve the appearance of certain types of discoloration by encouraging skin turnover. However, pigmentation can have different causes, and not all types respond to the same treatments.

If discoloration is your main concern, I'll want to consider your skin history, current routine, and the type of pigmentation you're experiencing before deciding whether this treatment makes sense for you.

Helps Refine the Appearance of Pores

Let's clear something up: pores don't actually open and close, and no treatment can permanently erase them.

However, when pores are congested or surrounded by uneven skin texture, they can look more noticeable. Improving surface texture and addressing congestion may help your complexion look smoother and more refined.

The Green Sea Peel may be helpful for certain clients dealing with that rough, congested appearance, although it isn't a replacement for an appropriate routine to manage excess oil and clogged pores.

Helps Improve the Appearance of Congestion

If blackheads, clogged pores, or a generally congested complexion are concerns, resurfacing may be one option to consider.

The Green Sea Peel encourages the skin's renewal process, which may help improve the appearance of surface buildup and congestion over time.

That doesn't mean it is automatically the best choice for every breakout. Active inflammation, irritated skin, and a compromised skin barrier can make resurfacing inappropriate. Sometimes the smartest first step is calming the skin down rather than doing more to it.

Supports Smoother-Looking Acne Scarring

Post-acne marks and textural acne scars are not the same thing, and that distinction matters when choosing a treatment.

A resurfacing treatment may help improve the appearance of superficial irregularities and some post-acne discoloration. Deeper, indented scars generally require a more individualized treatment plan, and a Green Sea Peel shouldn't be expected to erase them.

If acne scarring is something you'd like to address, we'll want to be realistic about what's achievable and which options are appropriate for your skin.

Encourages Skin Renewal

The purpose of a Green Sea Peel is to stimulate a skin-renewal response. As your skin moves through the recovery process, you may notice changes in its texture, clarity, and overall appearance.

You may also see claims about increased collagen and elastin production with spicule treatments. The extent of those effects depends on the specific formulation and available clinical evidence, so I wouldn't promise a particular collagen-building result from the treatment alone.

My goal is to choose treatments based on your actual skin concerns rather than promising that one service will fix everything.

Helps Reveal Fresher-Looking Skin

Ultimately, the goal is skin that looks smoother, brighter, and more even.

Some clients may notice a beautiful improvement in radiance once the peeling phase has passed. Others may need a longer-term plan to address persistent concerns.

Either way, I want you to understand that the recovery period is part of the process, not a sign that you should start adding extra exfoliants or trying to speed things up.

What Does a Green Sea Peel Feel Like?

Let's be honest: this isn't your typical relaxing facial.

During the treatment, you may feel prickling, tingling, or stinging as the spicules are worked into the skin. Some people describe it as feeling like tiny pins or fine grains of sand against their face.

The intensity varies from person to person and depends on the treatment protocol and individual skin sensitivity.

Afterward, you may notice:

  • A prickly or sandy sensation

  • Redness or warmth

  • Tightness or dryness

  • Tenderness or sensitivity

  • Skin that feels rough to the touch

Some of these sensations can continue for a few days after treatment.

The most important thing is to follow the specific aftercare instructions provided for your treatment. If your discomfort is severe, worsening, or accompanied by significant swelling, blistering, or other unexpected symptoms, contact your provider rather than assuming it's a normal part of peeling.

What to Expect After a Green Sea Peel

This is the part I really want you to understand before booking.

Your skin needs time to recover, and visible peeling is possible but not guaranteed.

Some people experience noticeable flaking, while others have a much more subtle recovery. How much you peel isn't a reliable way to measure how successful your treatment was.

Here's a general overview of what the recovery process may look like. Your experience can vary depending on the specific product, treatment intensity, and your skin.

Day 1: Red, Tight & Prickly

Immediately after your treatment, your skin may look flushed or red and feel warm, tight, or sensitive.

You may also notice that familiar prickly sensation. For some people, it feels similar to a mild sunburn; for others, it feels more like tiny grains beneath the surface.

This sensation may continue after you leave the studio because of the way the spicules interact with the skin.

Keep your routine simple and follow your treatment-specific instructions. This is not the time to experiment with new skincare products or try to cover up the recovery process with a bunch of makeup.

Days 2–3: Dry, Tight & Textured

Over the next couple of days, the prickly sensation may begin to settle, although it can last longer for some people.

Your skin may feel:

  • Dry and tight

  • Rough or textured

  • More sensitive than usual

  • Slightly uncomfortable when touched

You may also start noticing some flaking.

This is where I want you to resist the temptation to do too much. When your skin feels rough, it's natural to want to smooth it out, but adding exfoliation can make irritation worse.

Do not scrub, pick, pull, or manually remove peeling skin. Let your skin recover at its own pace.

Days 3–5: The Peeling Phase

This is often when the peeling becomes more noticeable, although the timing varies.

You might see small flakes around your mouth, chin, forehead, or other areas of the face. Your skin may also feel dry or look patchy as the surface sheds.

Some people experience light flaking, while others peel more visibly.

Neither automatically tells us whether the treatment worked. Your skin's response depends on several factors, including its condition before treatment and the specific protocol used.

This phase can be frustrating, especially if you have work, social plans, or a full calendar. If you have an event coming up, plan ahead and discuss the timing with me before booking.

And please, don't exfoliate to speed things up. Your skin doesn't need help shedding; it needs the opportunity to heal.

Days 5–7: Fresh Skin Starts to Show

As the flaking settles, you may begin noticing that your skin feels smoother and looks brighter.

Some clients notice improvements in:

  • Overall texture

  • The appearance of dullness

  • Skin clarity

  • The look of uneven tone

  • Overall radiance

The timing isn't identical for everyone, and your skin may still be sensitive even after the visible peeling has stopped.

Keep following your aftercare instructions instead of immediately jumping back into your usual active ingredients.

Week 2 and Beyond: Let Your Skin Continue to Recover

The end of visible peeling doesn't necessarily mean your skin has completely recovered.

Your skin may continue to settle over the following weeks, and the appearance of texture and tone may continue to change.

If your goal is to address persistent pigmentation, acne marks, or uneven texture, we can discuss whether a series of treatments makes sense. More treatments aren't automatically better, and I would want to assess your skin's recovery before considering another resurfacing session.

The goal is progress without compromising your skin barrier along the way.

Green Sea Peel Aftercare: What Should You Avoid?

Aftercare is a big part of getting the most out of any resurfacing treatment.

For the first several days, your skin needs gentle care and protection. The exact instructions will depend on the product and treatment protocol, so always follow the guidance provided for your appointment.

Avoid Excessive Heat

During the initial recovery period, avoid activities that cause excessive heat, sweating, or additional irritation, as directed by your provider.

This may include:

  • Saunas and steam rooms

  • Hot yoga

  • Intense workouts

  • Very hot showers

  • Other activities that leave your face overheated

Heat and sweating may aggravate redness and discomfort while your skin is recovering.

Pause Exfoliating Products

This is not the time to reach for your favorite exfoliating toner or resurfacing serum.

Depending on your treatment instructions, you may need to pause:

  • Physical scrubs and exfoliating brushes

  • AHAs, such as glycolic and lactic acid

  • BHAs, such as salicylic acid

  • PHAs

  • Retinoids and retinol

  • Other strong resurfacing treatments

Don't restart these products simply because your skin has stopped peeling. Wait until your skin has recovered and follow your provider's guidance on when to reintroduce active ingredients.

Don't Pick or Peel Your Skin

I know. The urge to pull off that one annoying piece of skin can be REAL.

But please leave it alone.

Picking, pulling, or manually removing peeling skin can increase irritation and potentially contribute to uneven healing or post-inflammatory pigmentation.

Let the skin shed naturally, even if it means a few days of looking a little less polished than usual.

Be Thoughtful About Sun Exposure

Sun protection is important year-round, but it's especially important when your skin is recovering from a resurfacing treatment.

Avoid unnecessary direct sun exposure and follow your provider's instructions about when to resume sunscreen and which formula to use. Once cleared for use, a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher is generally recommended, along with protective clothing and shade.

Remember, post-inflammatory pigmentation can be more difficult to manage if recovering skin is exposed to excessive UV radiation.

Keep Your Skincare Routine Simple

This is where your skin needs you to do less, not more.

Use only the cleanser, moisturizer, and other products approved for your recovery period. Avoid trying new products, layering multiple active ingredients, or assuming that a product is appropriate just because it normally works well for you.

If something burns, stings significantly, or causes an unexpected reaction, stop using it and contact your provider for guidance.

Is the Green Sea Peel Right for You?

The Green Sea Peel may be worth considering if you're looking for a more intensive approach to improving the appearance of your skin than a traditional facial can provide.

It may be an option for people concerned about:

  • Dull-looking skin

  • Uneven texture

  • Certain types of congestion

  • The appearance of enlarged pores

  • Post-acne discoloration

  • Uneven-looking skin tone

  • Superficial textural irregularities

  • A complexion that looks rough or lacks radiance

However, this treatment isn't right for everyone.

Active irritation, a compromised skin barrier, certain inflammatory skin conditions, active infections, recent resurfacing procedures, and some medications or skin treatments may affect whether it's appropriate.

Your skin history matters, too. If you've recently had a chemical peel, laser treatment, microneedling, or another intensive procedure, let me know before booking.

A consultation gives us the opportunity to discuss your concerns, review your current skincare routine, and determine whether the Green Sea Peel is a reasonable option or whether another approach would be better.

Sometimes the best treatment is the one we decide not to do yet.

Green Sea Peel vs. a Traditional Chemical Peel

Both treatments are designed to improve the appearance of the skin, but they work differently.

Traditional chemical peels use exfoliating acids to affect the bonds between surface skin cells and encourage exfoliation. A Green Sea Peel uses microscopic marine-derived spicules to stimulate the skin's renewal response.

Neither treatment is automatically better than the other.

The right choice depends on your skin concerns, skin condition, treatment history, desired results, and tolerance for downtime.

A chemical peel may be more appropriate for one person, while a spicule-based treatment may be worth considering for another. And sometimes, a gentler treatment plan focused on hydration and barrier support is the better starting point.

I would rather choose a treatment that makes sense for your skin than recommend something more intensive simply because it sounds impressive.

How Often Should You Get a Green Sea Peel?

There isn't one schedule that works for everyone.

Treatment frequency depends on the specific Green Sea Peel protocol, your skin's condition, your goals, and how well you recover.

You may see recommendations online suggesting treatments every three to four weeks, but I wouldn't automatically apply that schedule to every client. Your skin needs adequate time to recover, and the manufacturer's instructions should guide the appropriate interval.

If you're working on more persistent concerns, such as uneven texture or post-acne discoloration, we can discuss whether a series is appropriate once we've assessed your skin and its response to treatment.

The goal isn't to keep your skin in a constant state of recovery. It's to make thoughtful, gradual progress while maintaining a healthy skin barrier.

The Bottom Line

The Green Sea Peel is a resurfacing treatment for people looking to improve the appearance of dullness, uneven texture, congestion, and certain types of discoloration.

It isn't your typical relaxing facial, and there can be several days of prickling, redness, dryness, and peeling afterward. Planning for that downtime and following your aftercare instructions are important parts of the experience.

I believe good skincare is about choosing treatments that make sense for your skin, understanding what you're signing up for, and having realistic expectations about the results.

You don't need to have perfect skin before coming to see me. We can start with where your skin is right now and figure out what makes sense from there.

If you're considering a Green Sea Peel in Oregon City or the Portland metro area, I'd love to help you determine whether it's the right fit for your skin.

Why I Created Peptide Party Jelly Mist: The Skincare Step Your Routine Has Been Missing

What if one little step could make your skin feel hydrated, refreshed, calm, and bouncy—without adding another heavy cream to your skincare routine?

That was the idea behind Peptide Party Jelly Mist.

I created Peptide Party under my skincare brand, Skin & Tonic, after realizing I wanted something that didn't really exist in my own skincare routine: a mist that was actually doing something for the skin.

Not just water in a pretty bottle.

Not just a temporary burst of freshness.

I wanted a lightweight, hydrating treatment that could be used morning, night, or anytime your skin needed a little extra something—and I wanted it packed with ingredients I genuinely believed in.

So I formulated it myself.

And it took nearly a year of research, development, testing, tweaking, and reformulating to get Peptide Party where I wanted it.

Why I Created Peptide Party

As an esthetician and skincare lover, I've tried a lot of products.

And while I loved the idea of a facial mist, I often felt like traditional mists were missing something. They felt refreshing, but I wanted more than a quick splash of hydration.

I wanted a product that could:

  • Deliver meaningful hydration

  • Support the skin barrier

  • Help skin feel calm and comfortable

  • Give the complexion a fresh, dewy appearance

  • Incorporate peptides and other skin-loving ingredients

  • Be lightweight enough to use throughout the day

  • Fit easily into an existing skincare routine

And, honestly, I wanted it to be fun.

That became Peptide Party.

Nearly a Year of R&D

Creating a skincare product sounds pretty glamorous until you're actually doing it.

There were formulas that looked good on paper but didn't feel right on the skin. Ingredients that worked beautifully but didn't play well with the rest of the formula. Textures that weren't quite what I envisioned. And plenty of tiny details that had to be adjusted over and over again.

I wasn't interested in creating something just to put my name on a bottle.

I wanted to create something I would genuinely reach for every single day.

Nearly a year went into researching ingredients, developing the formula, testing different versions, fine-tuning the texture, and getting all of the little details just right.

The result?

Peptide Party Jelly Mist.

A lightweight, cushiony, skin-balancing mist that delivers much more than your average face mist.

So... Why Is It Called Jelly Mist?

Because the texture is actually part of what makes Peptide Party different.

Most facial mists are completely watery. Peptide Party has a soft, cushiony jelly-like texture that feels more substantial on the skin while still being lightweight.

It's the middle ground I wanted:

More than a mist. Less than a serum. Completely Peptide Party.

And yes, it feels as fun as the name sounds.

What's Inside Peptide Party?

Every ingredient was selected with a purpose.

The formula combines hydrating, soothing, barrier-supporting, brightening, and skin-conditioning ingredients to create a product that does much more than simply refresh your skin.

Peptides

The star of the party.

Peptide Party contains acetyl hexapeptides, giving this mist a treatment-focused element that goes beyond basic hydration.

Niacinamide

A multitasking ingredient that helps support the skin barrier while promoting a smoother, more even-looking complexion.

Cica

Also known as Centella asiatica, cica is beloved for its soothing and skin-conditioning properties.

Beta-Glucan

A fantastic hydrating and skin-soothing ingredient that helps skin feel comfortable, moisturized, and well conditioned.

Panthenol + Allantoin

Two skin-loving ingredients that help provide a comforting, conditioning boost.

Ceramide NP

A skin-identical lipid that helps support the skin barrier and moisture retention.

Multiple Forms of Hyaluronic Acid

Different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid help provide lightweight, multi-level hydration.

Green Tea + Licorice

Antioxidant-rich botanical ingredients that complement the rest of the formula while supporting a healthy-looking complexion.

Glutathione + Sea Buckthorn

Additional antioxidant ingredients selected to support a brighter, healthier-looking complexion.

And that's only part of the formula.

The goal wasn't to throw a giant ingredient list onto a bottle just so I could say it contained “lots of actives.”

Every ingredient needed to have a reason for being there.

Why Peptide Party Is More Than a Face Mist

This is probably my favorite thing about it.

Peptide Party isn't designed to be the product you spray on your face once, watch it evaporate, and forget about.

It's a hydrating skin-balancing treatment that you can incorporate into your routine in whatever way works for you.

Use it:

In the morning before your serums and moisturizer.

At midday when your skin needs a hydration boost.

At night after cleansing and before the rest of your skincare.

Over makeup when your complexion needs a little refresh.

While traveling when your skin is feeling especially dry or blah.

Basically, whenever your skin says, “Hey, can I get a little something?”

Peptide Party.

Peptide Party Is for All Skin Types

I didn't want to create a product that was only useful for one specific skin type.

Dry skin needs hydration.

Oily skin needs hydration.

Combination skin needs hydration.

Mature skin needs hydration.

Even skin that produces plenty of oil can still be dehydrated.

That's why I designed Peptide Party to be lightweight enough for a variety of skin types while still providing meaningful hydration and skin support.

The Best Part? It's Actually Fun to Use.

Skincare can get complicated.

Cleanser. Toner. Essence. Ampoule. Serum. Treatment. Moisturizer. Oil. Mask. Eye cream.

Before you know it, your bathroom counter looks like a laboratory.

I wanted Peptide Party to be different.

It's one easy step that can add hydration and skin-loving ingredients to your routine without making your routine more complicated.

Mist it. Layer it. Refresh with it. Love it.

There really aren't many rules.

Nearly a Year of Work for a Five-Second Skincare Step

There's a funny contrast to creating Peptide Party.

It took me almost a year to develop...

And now you can use it in about five seconds.

That's the part of product development people don't always see.

The research.

The ingredient selection.

The formulation.

The testing.

The reformulating.

The texture adjustments.

The packaging.

The little details that nobody notices when everything is finally right.

But those details matter to me.

Because I didn't want to create another skincare product just to have another product.

I wanted to create something I actually wanted to use.

Something that made my skin feel good.

Something that fit easily into a real-life routine.

Something that delivered more than a basic face mist.

And something that made me smile every time I reached for it.

That became Peptide Party.

Ready to Join the Party?

Peptide Party Jelly Mist is $32 and available directly from Skin & Tonic.

Shop Peptide Party Jelly Mist at Skin & Tonic

Nearly a year of R&D. A whole lot of skincare nerdiness. One very fun mist.

Welcome to the Peptide Party.

Facial Myths Busted: Things Your Esthetician Wants You to Know

Skincare is one of those worlds where advice is everywhere — TikTok, beauty counters, Instagram routines, friends, influencers… and somehow, it all starts to blur together.

As an esthetician, I can tell you this: a lot of what people believe about their skin isn’t actually true. And those myths are often the reason skin ends up irritated, overwhelmed, or stuck in a cycle of trying product after product.

Let’s clear things up.

Myth #1: More exfoliation = better skin

This is one of the most common misconceptions in skincare.

Exfoliation can absolutely help improve texture, brighten the skin, and support cell turnover — but more is not better.

Over-exfoliating can actually lead to:

  • Sensitivity and redness

  • A compromised skin barrier

  • Breakouts and irritation

  • Increased dryness and flaking

Healthy skin isn’t constantly “scrubbed fresh.” It’s supported and balanced.

Sometimes the glow you’re chasing comes from less exfoliation, not more.

Myth #2: You need expensive products for good skin

Price does not equal effectiveness.

Some of the most effective skincare ingredients are simple, well-formulated, and affordable. And some luxury products are just beautifully packaged versions of the same basics.

What actually matters:

  • Consistent routine

  • Ingredient compatibility with your skin

  • Barrier support

  • Proper product layering

Good skin is not built on luxury — it’s built on knowledge and consistency.

Myth #3: Facials are only for special occasions

Facials are often treated like a “treat yourself” moment — something you do before a wedding, vacation, or event.

But the real benefits of facials come from consistency.

Regular facials can help:

  • Maintain skin health

  • Support hydration and barrier function

  • Address concerns before they become bigger issues

  • Keep your skin balanced through seasonal changes

Think of facials less like a one-time reset and more like ongoing maintenance for your skin.

Myth #4: Oily skin doesn’t need hydration

This one leads to so many frustrated skin journeys.

Oily skin still needs hydration.

In fact, when skin is dehydrated, it can sometimes produce more oil to compensate, which leads to imbalance.

Hydration helps:

  • Calm excess oil production

  • Improve skin texture

  • Strengthen the skin barrier

  • Reduce the cycle of over-drying and over-producing oil

Lightweight, water-based hydration is often exactly what oily skin is missing — not harsher stripping products.

Myth #5: Sensitive skin can’t be treated

Sensitive skin is not untreatable — it just needs a different approach.

Instead of aggressive treatments, sensitive skin responds best to:

  • Gentle cleansing

  • Barrier-supporting ingredients

  • Hydration-focused care

  • Calm, consistent routines

Sensitivity is often a sign of an overworked or compromised barrier, not skin that “can’t handle anything.”

With the right approach, sensitive skin can become stronger, more resilient, and far less reactive over time.

The Truth About Great Skin

Most skincare confusion comes from trying to do too much, too fast, or following routines that aren’t actually suited for your skin’s needs.

The truth is:

Your skin doesn’t need punishment. It needs a plan.

At Fox Beauty Studios, every facial is built around this idea — supporting your skin barrier, simplifying your routine, and helping your skin function at its best in real life, not just in theory.

Because when your skin is supported instead of stressed, everything changes.

Korean Skincare Explained: What Actually Works (and What’s Just Hype)

Korean skincare has taken over the beauty world — and for good reason. It’s thoughtful, prevention-focused, and centered around one core idea: healthy skin is built, not forced.

But with all the hype, 10-step routines, and trending products online, it can be hard to know what actually works… and what’s just marketing.

Let’s break it down in a simple, realistic way so you can understand Korean skincare on a deeper level — and how to apply it to your own routine.

Why Korean Skincare Focuses on Prevention

Unlike many Western skincare approaches that are often reactive (treating breakouts, dryness, or aging after they show up), Korean skincare is built around prevention.

The goal is to maintain skin health every day so problems don’t become severe in the first place.

That means:

  • Strengthening the skin barrier early

  • Keeping skin consistently hydrated

  • Supporting long-term skin resilience

  • Using gentle, repeated care instead of aggressive correction

Instead of “fixing” skin, it’s about supporting skin.

Hydration vs. Moisture (This Is the Key Difference)

One of the most misunderstood parts of skincare is the difference between hydration and moisture.

Hydration is water content in the skin. It helps plump, calm, and soften.

Moisture is what locks that hydration in.

Korean skincare layers both intentionally — starting with lightweight hydrating essences and finishing with creams or balms that seal everything in.

If your skin feels tight, dull, or reactive, you’re often missing hydration — not more exfoliation or stronger actives.

Ingredients at the Heart of Korean Skincare

Some of the most effective Korean skincare ingredients are also the most gentle. They focus on calming, repairing, and strengthening the skin barrier.

Here are a few I consistently love using in treatments and product recommendations:

Birch Juice

Naturally rich in amino acids and minerals, birch juice is incredibly hydrating and soothing. It helps replenish moisture without heaviness, making it ideal for sensitive or dehydrated skin.

Centella Asiatica

Known as “cica,” centella is one of the most well-known calming ingredients in K-beauty. It helps reduce redness, supports healing, and strengthens the skin barrier over time.

Peptides

Peptides are signaling ingredients that help support the skin’s natural repair process. They’re often used for firmness, elasticity, and long-term skin health.

Fermented Ingredients

Fermentation breaks ingredients down into smaller, more absorbable molecules. This can make skincare more effective and often gentler on sensitive skin while still delivering results like brightening and smoothing.

What Korean Skincare Is NOT

There’s a lot of hype online around Korean skincare being a magical 10-step routine or requiring dozens of products.

That’s not actually the reality.

K-beauty is not about using more — it’s about using smarter.

A well-designed routine can be as simple as:

  • Gentle cleanser

  • Hydrating toner or essence

  • Serum targeted to your skin concern

  • Moisturizer

  • SPF in the morning

That’s it. Consistency matters far more than complexity.

How to Build a Realistic Korean-Inspired Routine

If you want to bring Korean skincare principles into your routine, start here:

  1. Focus on hydration first
Before adding active treatments, make sure your skin is properly hydrated and comfortable.

  2. Simplify your actives
Instead of layering multiple strong treatments, choose one or two that truly support your skin goals.

  3. Prioritize barrier support
If your skin is sensitive or reactive, ingredients like centella, birch juice, and peptides are your foundation.

  4. Be consistent, not intense
Korean skincare works because of daily care, not occasional overcorrection.

Korean Skincare at Fox Beauty Studios

At Fox Beauty Studios, Korean skincare principles show up in nearly every treatment — especially for sensitive, dehydrated, or barrier-compromised skin.

We focus on calming, hydrating, and restoring skin health first, so your skin can actually respond better to everything else you do.

We also carry select Korean-inspired products, including deeply hydrating and barrier-supporting formulas designed for real-life skin — not just trends.

Healthy skin isn’t about doing the most. It’s about doing what actually works for your skin, every day.

Skin Barrier 101: Why Your Skin Is Suddenly Sensitive (And How to Fix It)

Have you ever looked at your skincare routine and thought, “Why is everything suddenly irritating my skin?”

A cleanser you’ve used for months starts to sting. Your favorite serum feels too strong. Your cheeks are dry, tight, red, or flaky — and somehow adding more products seems to make things worse.

You may be dealing with a compromised skin barrier.

The good news? Your skin isn’t “bad” or failing you. It may simply be asking for a little more support, hydration, and consistency.

At Fox Beauty Studios, I see this often — especially with clients who are trying to do all the right things but have accidentally overwhelmed their skin with too many active ingredients, exfoliants, or harsh products.

Let’s talk about what your skin barrier does, why it becomes damaged, and how to help restore healthy, balanced skin.

What Is Your Skin Barrier?

Your skin barrier is your skin’s protective outer layer. Think of it like a cozy shield that helps keep the good things in (like hydration) and the irritating things out (like environmental stressors and bacteria).

A healthy skin barrier helps your skin:

  • Maintain moisture

  • Stay smooth and comfortable

  • Protect itself from outside stressors

  • Better tolerate skincare products

  • Maintain a balanced, glowing appearance

When your barrier is healthy, your skin usually feels calm and resilient.

When your barrier is struggling, your skin often lets you know.

Signs Your Skin Barrier May Be Damaged

A compromised skin barrier can show up in many ways, including:

  • Increased sensitivity

  • Burning or stinging when applying products

  • Redness or irritation

  • Dry, tight, uncomfortable skin

  • Flaking or rough texture

  • Sudden breakouts

  • Products that used to work now causing irritation

Many people assume they need stronger treatments when this happens — but often, the answer is the opposite.

Your skin may need less aggression and more support.

Common Causes of a Struggling Skin Barrier

Over-Exfoliating

Exfoliation can be a wonderful part of a skincare routine, but more is not always better.

Using scrubs, acids, exfoliating toners, and treatments too frequently can disrupt the skin’s natural balance.

Your skin needs time to renew itself. Constantly pushing cell turnover can leave it feeling raw, sensitive, and overwhelmed.

Too Many Active Ingredients

Retinol, acids, brightening ingredients, acne treatments, and exfoliating products can all have a place in skincare — but stacking too many powerful ingredients together can create irritation.

A routine doesn’t have to be complicated to be effective.

Healthy skin often comes from consistency, not a 10-step routine.

Harsh Cleansers

That “squeaky clean” feeling after washing your face might actually be a warning sign.

A cleanser should remove makeup, sunscreen, and buildup without stripping away the natural oils your skin needs.

If your skin feels tight immediately after cleansing, it may be time for a gentler option.

Skipping Moisturizer

Many people with oily or breakout-prone skin avoid moisturizer because they think hydration will make their skin worse.

But dehydrated skin can actually become more reactive.

Moisture helps support your barrier, balance your skin, and create a healthier environment.

Why Hydration Often Beats Aggression

When your skin is struggling, the goal isn’t to “fix” it by doing more.

The goal is to rebuild trust with your skin.

Hydration-focused skincare supports your barrier by helping your skin hold onto moisture and function the way it’s designed to.

This is why calming ingredients and barrier-supporting products are so important, especially for sensitive or reactive skin.

How Professional Facials Support Barrier Repair

A customized facial isn’t about pushing your skin harder — it’s about giving your skin exactly what it needs.

At Fox Beauty Studios, our sensitive skin and hydrating facial treatments focus on:

  • Gentle cleansing

  • Supporting hydration levels

  • Calming irritation

  • Nourishing the skin barrier

  • Choosing treatments based on your skin’s current needs

Sometimes your best skin comes from slowing down, simplifying, and creating a routine that your skin can actually thrive with.

If your skin feels irritated, dry, sensitive, or like nothing is working anymore, a professional skin consultation can help you figure out what your skin has been asking for.

Your glow starts with a healthy foundation.

Ready to support your skin barrier? Book your customized hydrating facial at Fox Beauty Studios and let’s create a routine your skin loves.

Why Fox Beauty Studios Is Moving to a Gratuity-Free Model

A few changes at Fox Beauty Studios have been happening behind the scenes, and one of the biggest shifts is our move to a gratuity-free service model.

This decision comes from a place of wanting to create an even better, more intentional experience for every client who walks through the door.

For years, tipping has been a normal part of the beauty industry. It has always been a way for clients to show appreciation, and I have been so grateful for every kind word, thank you, and gesture of support I have received.

As Fox Beauty Studios continues to grow, I found myself thinking deeply about the experience I wanted to create — not just during your appointment, but from the moment you book, arrive, and leave feeling cared for.

A gratuity-free model allows everything to be built into the price from the beginning. There is no guessing, no wondering what is expected, and no pressure at the end of your appointment. The price you see is the complete investment in your service.

This shift also allows me to continue focusing on what matters most: creating customized treatments, providing thoughtful recommendations, using professional skincare, and making sure every client receives the same level of care and attention.

One of the most meaningful parts of this transition has been hearing feedback from clients about the sense of ease and fairness it creates. Knowing that everyone feels valued and that every service experience feels consistent is incredibly important to me.

Fox Beauty Studios has always been about creating a space where you can slow down, feel comfortable, and trust that your skin and self-care are in thoughtful hands. This change is simply another way of protecting that experience.

Thank you for continuing to support this little studio and for allowing me to evolve, grow, and create the kind of beauty experience I truly believe in.

What Is Eyebrow Lamination?

Eyebrow lamination is a semi-permanent brow treatment that redirects and sets your natural brow hairs into a fuller, more uniform shape.

Instead of adding hair or pigment, brow lamination works with what you already have by:

  • Softening and repositioning brow hairs

  • Lifting hairs upward for a fuller look

  • Creating a more defined, structured brow shape

  • Helping brows appear thicker and more even

  • Giving a “brushed-up” or fluffy brow effect

The result is naturally fuller-looking brows that stay in place and hold their shape for weeks.

Many clients describe the final look as:

  • “Fluffy brows without effort”

  • Clean girl aesthetic brows

  • Soft lifted brow styling

  • Natural but more defined

Why Eyebrow Lamination Is So Popular

The beauty industry has shifted heavily toward natural enhancement and low-maintenance routines, and eyebrow lamination fits perfectly into that movement.

More clients are searching for:

  • Fuller-looking brows without microblading

  • Low-maintenance brow styling

  • A polished look without daily brow gels or pencils

  • Non-invasive brow enhancement

  • Soft, natural brow definition

Brow lamination delivers all of that while still looking effortless and wearable every day.

Eyebrow Lamination vs Microblading

One of the most common questions I get is how brow lamination compares to microblading.

Here’s the simplest way to think about it:

Eyebrow Lamination

  • Works with your natural brow hairs

  • Temporary (typically 6–8 weeks)

  • Non-invasive and chemical-based setting process

  • Ideal for fuller, fluffier, styled brows

  • No tattooing or pigment involved

Microblading

  • Semi-permanent tattoo technique

  • Creates hair-like strokes using pigment

  • Longer lasting (1–2 years)

  • More structured, makeup-like result

As an esthetician, I love brow lamination for clients who want flexibility, softness, and a natural enhancement without committing to permanent pigment.

Why Clients Love Brow Lamination

One of the biggest reasons my clients fall in love with eyebrow lamination is how much time it saves them in their daily routine.

Imagine waking up and your brows already look:

  • Brushed up

  • Full

  • Even

  • Styled

No more spending time trying to:

  • Fill in sparse areas

  • Shape uneven brows

  • Use brow gels that wear off during the day

Brow lamination is especially loved by:

  • Busy professionals

  • Moms on the go

  • Students

  • Minimal makeup wearers

  • Clients who love the “clean girl” look

  • Anyone wanting effortless beauty

It’s one of those services that quietly changes your entire morning routine.

How Long Does Eyebrow Lamination Last?

Most eyebrow laminations last about 6–8 weeks, depending on:

  • Hair growth cycle

  • Skin type

  • Aftercare routine

  • Brow hair texture

To enhance the result even more, many clients pair brow lamination with a tint for added depth and definition, creating a soft “filled-in” effect without makeup.

Is Eyebrow Lamination Safe?

When performed correctly by a trained professional, eyebrow lamination is a safe and effective way to enhance natural brows.

At Fox Beauty Studios, I always focus on:

  • Proper brow and skin assessment

  • Correct processing timing

  • Hair integrity and condition

  • High-quality, professional-grade products

  • Customized shaping based on facial structure

The goal is always healthy, beautiful brows—not over-processed or overly stiff results.

The Best Low-Maintenance Brow Enhancement

If you want brows that look fuller, fluffier, and more defined without daily effort, eyebrow lamination is one of my favorite services to recommend.

It’s:

  • Natural-looking

  • Low-maintenance

  • Soft and flexible

  • Perfect for everyday wear

  • A quick way to elevate your entire face

For clients who want that effortless, polished look without committing to permanent makeup, brow lamination is one of the best modern brow enhancement services available today.

Korean Lash Lift Benefits: Why I Switched to the Gentler Korean Lash Lift Technique

If you’ve been searching for a natural lash lift, low-maintenance lash enhancement, or a gentler alternative to traditional lash lifts, you’ve probably started hearing about the Korean lash lift technique.

Over the last few years, Korean lash lifts have become one of the fastest-growing beauty trends—and after working with this technique myself, I completely understand why.

At Fox Beauty Studios, I love offering Korean lash lifts because they create beautifully lifted, healthy-looking lashes while focusing on the integrity of the natural lash. My clients love the soft, effortless look, the easier morning routine, and the fact that they can enhance their natural lashes without extensions.

What Is a Korean Lash Lift?

A Korean lash lift is an advanced lash lifting technique designed to lift and shape the natural lashes from the root using a gentler, more refined approach than many traditional lash lift systems.

Unlike older lash perm techniques that can sometimes create an overly dramatic curl, Korean lash lifts focus on:

  • Soft, natural-looking lift

  • Lash health and integrity

  • Precision application

  • Flexible, elegant curl patterns

  • Healthier-looking natural lashes

The result is lifted, darker-looking lashes that make the eyes appear brighter, more awake, and naturally enhanced.

Many clients describe the final look as:

  • “Your lashes but better”

  • Clean girl beauty

  • Soft glam

  • Effortless beauty

Why Korean Lash Lifts Are Trending

The popularity of Korean beauty trends has completely changed the beauty industry. Clients are moving away from heavy, high-maintenance beauty services and toward treatments that look softer, healthier, and more natural.

That’s exactly why Korean lash lifts have become so popular.

More clients are searching for:

  • Natural lash enhancement

  • Low-maintenance beauty services

  • Lash lifts without extensions

  • Gentle lash lift systems

  • Beauty treatments focused on lash health

A Korean lash lift offers all of those benefits while still creating visible, beautiful results.

Korean Lash Lift vs Traditional Lash Lift

One of the biggest differences between a Korean lash lift and a traditional lash lift is the overall approach to lash health.

Traditional lash lift systems can sometimes:

  • Overprocess delicate lashes

  • Create harsh bends or over-curling

  • Leave lashes feeling dry or brittle

  • Use stronger processing solutions

Korean lash lift techniques are known for being gentler and more detail-oriented. Many systems focus on softer processing methods and conditioning support to help maintain healthier natural lashes.

As an esthetician, this is one of the biggest reasons I personally prefer Korean lash lift techniques. Protecting the integrity of the natural lashes is always a priority for me.

Why Clients Love Korean Lash Lifts

One of the biggest reasons my clients fall in love with Korean lash lifts is the simplicity.

Imagine waking up every morning with naturally curled, lifted lashes—without needing:

  • Mascara

  • A lash curler

  • Lash extensions

  • Extra time getting ready

Clients love that their lashes still look soft and natural while making their eyes appear more open and refreshed.

A Korean lash lift is especially popular for:

  • Busy moms

  • Professionals

  • Students

  • Travelers

  • Gym-goers

  • Clients wanting low-maintenance beauty

The results are beautiful, effortless, and easy to maintain.

How Long Does a Korean Lash Lift Last?

Most Korean lash lifts last approximately 6–8 weeks depending on:

  • Natural lash growth cycle

  • Aftercare

  • Lash health

  • Lifestyle habits

For even more definition, many clients choose to pair their lift with a lash tint to create a darker, mascara-like effect.

Is a Korean Lash Lift Safe for Natural Lashes?

When performed properly by a trained professional, Korean lash lifts are considered a gentler alternative to many traditional lift systems.

I always prioritize:

  • Proper lash assessment

  • Correct processing times

  • Lash health

  • Safe product usage

  • Customized lifting techniques

The goal is never just dramatic lashes—it’s beautiful results while maintaining healthy natural lashes long-term.

The Best Low-Maintenance Lash Enhancement

If you want a beauty service that helps you look polished with minimal effort, Korean lash lifts are one of my favorite recommendations.

They’re:

  • Natural-looking

  • Gentle

  • Elegant

  • Low-maintenance

  • Perfect for everyday beauty

For clients who want to enhance their natural lashes without committing to extensions, a Korean lash lift truly is one of the best modern lash enhancement services available today.

What to Expect During an Eyebrow Wax (From Me to You)

If you’ve never had your brows professionally waxed—or it’s been a while—here’s exactly what it’s like when you come see me.

First, we don’t just jump into waxing. I always start with mapping your brows. This is where I look at your face shape, bone structure, and natural brow growth to figure out the most flattering shape for you. I’m not here to give you “trendy” brows—I want them to feel like you, just a little more polished.

Then we wax. I use wax to clean up the bulk of the hair—above, below, and in between—so you get those really crisp, defined lines. It’s quick, and most of my clients are surprised by how easy it feels.

After that, I go in with tweezers. This is my favorite part because it’s all about the details. I’ll grab any tiny hairs the wax missed and fine-tune everything so your brows look balanced and intentional—not overdone.

To finish, I’ll calm the skin and make sure everything is sitting just right. If you have questions about filling them in or growing them out, this is usually when we chat about that too.

As for how often to come in, most of my clients stick to every 4–6 weeks. That keeps the shape clean without overworking the skin, and over time your regrowth usually gets softer and easier to manage.

My biggest tip? Try not to tweeze in between appointments (I know, it’s hard). Letting them grow in a bit gives me more to work with so I can keep your shape looking its best.

That’s really it. It’s a simple service, but it makes such a difference—and once you have a shape you love, it’s so much easier to maintain.

Why I Recommend Double Cleansing

If you’ve ever felt like your skin isn’t fully clean—even after washing your face—you’re not imagining it. One of the most common missing steps I see in skincare routines is proper cleansing. This is exactly why I recommend double cleansing to so many of my clients.

It’s not about doing more for the sake of doing more. It’s about doing it right.

Let’s break down what double cleansing is, why it matters, and how it fits seamlessly into a simple, effective Korean skincare routine.

What Is Double Cleansing?

Double cleansing is exactly what it sounds like: cleansing your skin twice, using two different types of cleansers.

Step one: an oil-based cleanser
Step two: a water-based cleanser

Each step has a specific purpose, and when used together, they give your skin a level of clean that a single cleanse just can’t achieve.

Why One Cleanse Isn’t Enough

Throughout the day, your skin builds up layers of:

  • Sunscreen

  • Makeup

  • Oil (sebum)

  • Sweat

  • Environmental debris and pollution

Most traditional cleansers—especially gel or foam cleansers—are designed to remove water-based impurities like sweat and dirt. But they struggle to fully break down oil-based products like sunscreen and makeup.

This is where people run into issues. If those layers aren’t fully removed, they can sit on the skin, leading to congestion, dullness, and breakouts.

Step One: Oil Cleanser (The Game Changer)

An oil cleanser works on the principle that “like dissolves like.”

It binds to:

  • Makeup

  • Sunscreen

  • Excess oil

…and gently lifts it off the skin without stripping your barrier.

When you massage an oil cleanser into dry skin, you’re breaking everything down at the surface level in a way that feels effortless—not harsh.

This step alone is often the missing link for clients who feel like their skin is never quite clear.

Step Two: Water-Based Cleanser (The True Clean)

After rinsing the oil cleanser, you follow with a gentle gel or foam cleanser.

This step removes:

  • Sweat

  • Dirt

  • Any leftover residue from the oil cleanse

It leaves your skin actually clean—but still balanced.

Not tight. Not stripped. Just clean.

Why This Fits So Well Into Korean Skincare

Korean skincare is often misunderstood as being complicated or excessive. In reality, the philosophy is about being intentional and effective.

Double cleansing is a foundational step in that philosophy.

Instead of overloading the skin with treatments to fix problems later, Korean skincare focuses on:

  • Proper cleansing

  • Supporting the skin barrier

  • Preventing issues before they start

When your skin is truly clean, everything you apply afterward—your toner, serums, and moisturizer—can actually penetrate and work the way it’s supposed to.

Without proper cleansing, even the best products won’t perform at their full potential.

Who Should Be Double Cleansing?

I recommend double cleansing for:

  • Anyone who wears sunscreen (which should be everyone)

  • Anyone who wears makeup

  • Acne-prone or congested skin

  • Clients investing in professional skincare treatments

If you’re putting anything on your skin during the day, you need to properly remove it at night.

Does This Mean Your Routine Has to Be Complicated?

Not at all.

This is something I talk about often—your routine doesn’t need to be long to be effective. Double cleansing is a perfect example of adding intention without adding overwhelm.

A simple, strong routine might look like:

  • Oil cleanser

  • Gentle cleanser

  • Targeted serum

  • Moisturizer

That’s it.

Four steps that actually work.

The Bottom Line

If your skin feels dull, congested, or like it’s not responding to your products, don’t immediately reach for something new.

Start with your cleansing routine.

Double cleansing isn’t about doing more—it’s about doing better. It sets the foundation for healthy skin, supports everything that comes after, and aligns perfectly with a results-driven, simplified approach to skincare.

If you’re not already doing it, this is one of the easiest changes you can make with some of the most noticeable results.

Myth: Korean skincare has to be complex and multi-step to work

Korean skincare has built a reputation for glowing, glass-like skin—and somewhere along the way, it also picked up the idea that you need a 10-step routine to get there.

Let’s clear that up.

Myth: Korean skincare has to be complex and multi-step to work

Not true.

The heart of Korean skincare isn’t about doing more—it’s about doing what works, consistently, with intention. The famous “10-step routine” is more of a menu than a rulebook. It shows you options, not requirements.

In reality, some of the healthiest, glowiest skin comes from routines that are simple, strategic, and tailored to the individual.

What actually matters? Function over quantity.

If you have 3–4 strong, effective products that truly meet your skin’s needs, you’re already doing it right. Every product in your routine should have a clear purpose—no filler, no overwhelm.

A solid, results-driven routine might look like:

  • A gentle cleanser that supports your barrier

  • A treatment serum that targets your main concern (acne, pigmentation, aging, sensitivity)

  • A moisturizer that hydrates and seals everything in

  • A daily SPF to protect your results

That’s it. That’s the foundation of great skin.

Why less can actually be more

Layering too many products can sometimes do the opposite of what you want—leading to irritation, congestion, or a confused skin barrier. Especially if you’re mixing too many actives without a clear plan.

Korean skincare philosophy leans heavily into balance:

  • Supporting the skin barrier

  • Hydrating deeply

  • Using actives thoughtfully, not aggressively

It’s not about piling things on—it’s about feeding your skin what it needs.

Consistency is the real secret

You don’t need a complicated routine—you need a consistent one.

Using the right products regularly will always outperform a long, inconsistent routine. Skin thrives on predictability. When you give it that, you start to see real, lasting changes.

So why the confusion?

Social media.

Aesthetic shelfies, influencer routines, and “more is better” marketing have made it easy to believe that complexity equals results. But behind the scenes, many professionals—and even Korean skincare experts—keep things much more edited and intentional.

The takeaway

You don’t need 10 steps.
You don’t need a complicated routine.
You need the right routine.

If your products are supporting your skin, targeting your concerns, and working together harmoniously—3 or 4 steps is more than enough.

Because glowing skin isn’t about doing the most.

It’s about doing what works.

Why I Fell in Love with Korean Skincare

Over a decade ago, my relationship with my skin was… complicated. I’ve always had reactive and sensitive skin, but everything changed when I became pregnant with my first child. Suddenly, my skin exploded — acne, texture issues, dryness, redness… everything all at once, all day, every day.

I scoured the American skincare market looking for solutions, but nothing truly worked. Every product promised results, but the reality was frustrating: my skin either didn’t improve or became even more irritated. That’s when I went down the rabbit hole — hours of research, experimentation, and late-night skincare forums — and discovered Korean skincare.

And honestly? I never looked back.

What Makes Korean Skincare Different

There are so many reasons why I love it:

  • Science-backed innovation: South Korea is a global leader in skincare research. The government subsidizes millions of dollars in research each year to advance formulations and technologies.

  • Low-fragrance formulations: Sensitive skin-friendly products that actually work. No unnecessary irritants.

  • Heritage ingredients: Traditional ingredients like cica, green tea, and ginseng are celebrated and integrated with modern discoveries.

  • Next-generation actives: Ingredients like snail mucin and salmon PDRN harness cutting-edge science to improve hydration, healing, and regeneration.

Korean skincare is constantly innovating, and we get to benefit from it — hello, glass skin!

A Gentle, Whole-Food Approach vs. the Aggressive American Model

I often like to compare skincare philosophies:

  • American skincare: Like an atom bomb — aggressive treatments for visible problems. It might clear acne, but it can leave your skin overly dry, irritated, or darkly pigmented as it heals.

  • Korean skincare: Like a “whole food diet” for your skin. Gentle, layered, preventative. It focuses on maintaining balance, barrier health, and long-term resilience rather than just treating one symptom.

For me, Korean skincare flipped my viewpoint on what it means to truly take care of skin. It’s not about over-correcting; it’s about nourishing, protecting, and enhancing natural function.

How My Journey Shaped Fox Beauty Studios

After over a decade of trial, error, and learning, I’ve curated a strong selection of both professional-grade and at-home products that I trust for myself and my clients. Every product I use in my studio, and every recommendation I make for home care, comes from years of experience combined with a deep understanding of what works for sensitive and reactive skin.

Whether you’re looking for hydration, barrier repair, or that radiant “glass skin,” I love that Korean skincare gives us tools to prevent issues before they start, while still delivering visible results.

Why I’m Still Excited After 12 Years

Even after all this time, I still get excited about new breakthroughs, new formulas, and new research. Korean skincare is constantly evolving — and we get to benefit from those innovations in real-time. For anyone who wants skin that’s healthy, hydrated, balanced, and glowing, it’s a game-changer.

It’s not a quick fix. It’s not aggressive. It’s consistent, gentle, and effective. And for someone like me — someone who has lived through the chaos of sensitive, reactive, and pregnancy-affected skin — it’s nothing short of life-changing.

✨ If you’ve been frustrated with your current routine or want to explore Korean skincare for glowing, balanced skin, I’d love to help you build a plan that works for your skin, your lifestyle, and your long-term results.

The Moisture + Relax Facial: Hydration Meets Deep Relaxation

Sometimes, our skin just needs two things: moisture and a little love. That’s exactly what my Moisture + Relax Facial delivers — a treatment designed to leave your skin glowing, hydrated, and your mind completely at ease.

This is my most massage-focused facial, perfect for anyone who wants to feel like their skin — and their body — just hit the reset button.

Why This Facial Is Different

The secret to this facial isn’t just the products (though they’re all premium Korean skincare formulations known for their hydration-boosting magic). It’s the method.

I use a layering technique with 15 different products — carefully chosen to cleanse, rebuild, and deeply moisturize your skin. This isn’t about slapping on a mask and hoping for the best. It’s about strategic layering, massage, and timing to get maximum absorption and results.

Step-By-Step: What to Expect

  1. Thorough Triple Cleanse & Gentle Enzyme Exfoliation
We start by removing impurities and dead skin cells, preparing your skin to truly receive the hydration it craves.

  2. Toner & Tension-Melting Massage
Your shoulders, neck, and face get a slow, intentional massage, stimulating blood flow and helping your skin absorb products at a deeper level.

  3. Optional Light Extractions
If needed, we gently clear congestion — always tailored to your skin’s tolerance.

  4. Bubbly Moisture Mask + Hand & Arm Massage
While your skin drinks in hydration, you’ll enjoy a calming hand and arm massage — because the body deserves attention, too.

  5. Serum, Moisturizer, SPF + Laneige Lip Mask
Your skin gets the finishing touches with deeply nourishing products that lock in moisture and protection.

  6. Soft Jelly Mist & Signature Scalp Massage
Finally, a gentle scalp massage to melt tension away and leave you feeling relaxed from head to toe.

The Benefits

  • Maximum Hydration: Every product is chosen to increase your skin’s moisture levels, leaving it plump, soft, and glowing.

  • Enhanced Product Absorption: Extensive facial massage helps your skin take in all the active ingredients more effectively.

  • Deep Relaxation: From face to shoulders, arms, and scalp, this facial is as much about self-care as it is about skin health.

  • Healthy, Glowy Skin: After this facial, your skin feels nourished, refreshed, and radiant.

Why Korean Skincare Products Make a Difference

Korean skincare is all about layering, gentle yet effective formulations, and intense hydration. By combining science-backed ingredients with luxurious massage techniques, this facial delivers results you can feel immediately — and see for days afterward.

My Philosophy

Skincare isn’t just about looking good — it’s about feeling good. With the Moisture + Relax Facial, you get a treatment that respects your skin’s needs while giving your body the attention it deserves. It’s a full sensory experience: hydrated skin, a relaxed mind, and a sense of calm that lasts long after you leave the studio.

✨ Book your Moisture + Relax Facial at Fox Beauty Studios and give your skin — and yourself — the ultimate hydration and relaxation experience.

Why Dermaplaning Isn’t My Go-To Treatment.

Dermaplaning is one of those treatments that looks amazing on social media — ultra-smooth skin, instant glow, that “glass skin” finish. And while I absolutely understand why people are drawn to it, I want to be very honest about why I’m not a big fan of dermaplaning for everyone.

My philosophy has always been simple: just because a treatment is popular doesn’t mean it’s right for your skin.

First — Dermaplaning Is More Aggressive Than People Realize

Dermaplaning isn’t just “removing peach fuzz.” It’s a controlled exfoliation using a surgical blade. That means we are physically scraping off dead skin cells and shaving the hair at the surface of the skin.

For some skin types, this can be tolerated. For many others, it’s simply too much.

In fact, in the state of Oregon, dermaplaning requires additional advanced education hours beyond basic esthetics training. Not every esthetician is automatically certified to perform it.

👉 Always double-check that your esthetician has completed advanced training and is certified by the state of Oregon to perform dermaplaning.

That requirement alone should tell you this isn’t a “light” treatment.

What Is the Skin Barrier — and Why It Matters So Much

Your skin barrier is the outermost layer of your skin. Think of it like a protective shield. Its job is to:

  • Lock moisture in

  • Keep irritants, bacteria, and pollutants out

  • Maintain comfort, balance, and resilience

When the skin barrier is healthy, your skin feels calm, hydrated, and strong.

When it’s disrupted, you may experience:

  • Redness

  • Burning or stinging

  • Breakouts caused by irritation

  • Increased sensitivity

  • Dehydration and inflammation

For many people — especially those with sensitive skin — dermaplaning can strip and disrupt this barrier, leaving the skin vulnerable instead of supported.

The “Instant Glow” Truth About Dermaplaning

Yes — immediately after dermaplaning, your skin often feels incredibly smooth. That’s real. But it’s important to understand why.

That glassy feeling comes from:

  • Hair (peach fuzz) being shaved off

  • Multiple layers of dead skin being physically removed

What often gets overlooked is what happens after.

Within a few days:

  • Your facial hair starts growing back

  • The smooth effect fades

  • The hair grows in blunt instead of tapered

That blunt regrowth can feel prickly or rough, especially along the jawline and cheeks — and honestly… no one wants that.

The glow is temporary, but the barrier disruption can last much longer.

Why I’m Extra Cautious With Dermaplaning .

For clients who often want visible results but also value skin comfort, balance, and long-term health — dermaplaning can be counterproductive.

If your skin is:

  • Sensitive

  • Easily reactive

  • Dehydrated

  • Prone to redness or inflammation

Then aggressive physical exfoliation can do more harm than good. I’d rather build your glow slowly and safely than chase a short-term result that compromises your skin long-term.

So… What Do I Recommend Instead?

For clients who want:

  • Smoother texture

  • Brighter skin

  • Better product absorption

  • That healthy, hydrated glow

I lean toward gentler, barrier-respecting exfoliation methods, such as:

  • Enzyme exfoliation

  • Light chemical exfoliation when appropriate

  • Hydration-focused facials

  • Treatments that strengthen the skin barrier instead of stripping it

These approaches support the skin’s natural renewal cycle without shock or trauma.

My Philosophy at Fox Beauty Studios

I don’t choose treatments based on trends — I choose them based on what your skin actually needs.

Dermaplaning isn’t “bad,” but it’s not universal — and it’s not something I reach for casually. Especially when there are more intelligent, skin-supportive ways to achieve glow, smoothness, and clarity.

At the end of the day, my goal isn’t just how your skin looks right after a facial — it’s how it feels and functions weeks later.

Want Smooth, Glowing Skin Without Compromising Your Barrier?

If you’re curious about alternative exfoliation options or want a facial plan that prioritizes long-term skin health, I’d love to guide you.

✨ Book a facial at Fox Beauty Studios and let’s choose treatments that truly support your skin.

Sensitive Skin Isn’t “Difficult” — It Just Needs the Right Care

If you have sensitive skin, you’ve probably been told things like “just don’t use anything” or “your skin is just reactive.”I hear this all the time — and honestly, it breaks my heart.

Because sensitive skin isn’t broken. It’s communicating.

As someone who has had sensitive skin my entire life, I know firsthand how frustrating it can be to feel like your skin overreacts to everything. I also know how transformative it is when your skin is finally treated with intention, patience, and expertise. That personal journey is exactly why I built Fox Beauty Studios the way I did.

What Sensitive Skin Really Is (And What It Isn’t)

Sensitive skin is often misunderstood. It’s not a “type” — it’s a condition. Most of the time, sensitivity comes down to a compromised skin barrier. When that barrier is weakened, skin becomes more reactive to ingredients, treatments, weather, stress, and even water.

Common signs I see in my clients:

  • Redness or flushing

  • Burning or stinging from products

  • Tightness or discomfort after cleansing

  • Breakouts caused by irritation (not acne)

  • A feeling that nothing “works” long-term

Sensitive skin needs calm before correction. That philosophy guides every facial I perform.

Why Professional Facials Matter So Much for Sensitive Skin

I truly believe sensitive skin should never be treated aggressively. At-home routines are important, but they can’t replace a trained eye, professional formulations, and hands that know when to do less — not more.

A professional sensitive-skin facial allows me to:

  • Properly assess your skin barrier and triggers

  • Choose products and techniques that support healing

  • Avoid unnecessary stimulation

  • Calm inflammation before it turns into flare-ups

  • Create a long-term plan instead of a quick fix

This is where sensitive skin finally starts to feel safe.

My Approach at Fox Beauty Studios

Fox Beauty Studios exists because I wanted to create the kind of space I wished for when I was struggling with my own skin.

I Lead With Listening

Every facial begins with a thorough consultation. I want to know your skin history, what you’ve tried, what hasn’t worked, and what your skin feels like day to day. Sensitive skin tells a story — and I take the time to hear it.

Thoughtfully Curated Products

I am extremely selective about what touches my clients’ skin. I lean into gentle, barrier-supportive formulations inspired by modern, skin-respecting skincare — especially calming, hydration-focused ingredients that reduce inflammation and rebuild resilience.

You’ll never find harsh exfoliation, unnecessary fragrance, or “trend chasing” here.

A Calming Environment

Sensitive skin often goes hand-in-hand with a sensitive nervous system. My studio is intentionally cozy, quiet, and grounding. Healing skin starts with relaxation.

Can You Exfoliate or Treat Sensitive Skin? Yes — Carefully.

One of the biggest myths I hear is that sensitive skin can’t be treated. That’s simply not true.

Sensitive skin can improve, glow, and age beautifully — when treatments are done gently and strategically. I use ultra-gentle exfoliation methods when appropriate, prioritize hydration and barrier repair, and always work within your skin’s comfort zone.

The goal is not to push your skin.
The goal is to strengthen it.

What My Sensitive-Skin Clients Experience

Most of my sensitive-skin clients come in feeling hesitant — sometimes even scared — because of past experiences. What I hear afterward is always the same:

“My skin finally feels calm.”
“Nothing burned.”
“I didn’t turn red.”
“I finally trust someone with my skin.”

That trust is everything to me.

Sensitive Skin Deserves Expertise, Not Guesswork

If you’ve been told your skin is “too sensitive” for facials, I want you to know this: sensitive skin doesn’t need avoidance — it needs the right provider.

At Fox Beauty Studios, my entire approach is built around respecting the skin barrier, calming inflammation, and helping your skin feel comfortable in its own state again.

Sensitive doesn’t mean fragile.
It means intelligent — and deserving of care.

Ready to Give Your Skin a Different Experience?

If you’re looking for a facial that feels safe, calming, and genuinely customized for sensitive skin, I would love to work with you.

Book a facial at Fox Beauty Studios and let’s help your skin feel balanced, supported, and confident again.

Vitamin Facial: Brighten, Tighten, and Restore Your Skin

If you’re searching for a facial that delivers immediate glow, plumpness, and a customized skincare experience, the Vitamin Facial at Fox Beauty Studios in Oregon City is a must-try.

What Is a Vitamin Facial?

A Vitamin Facial is designed to nourish, exfoliate, and revitalize the skin using professional-grade serums and active vitamins. At Fox Beauty Studios, I personalize each treatment based on your skin’s unique needs. Clients can choose from four serum bases:

  • Brightening – for a radiant, luminous complexion

  • Tightening – for firmer, lifted skin

  • Restored Moisture – for deep hydration and softening

  • Skin Detox – to purify and balance the skin

Step 1: Double Cleanse and Activation Gel

Every facial begins with a thorough double cleanse to remove impurities and prep the skin. Next, I apply an icy cold, soothing activation gel, which cools and calms the skin, preparing it for the vitamins to come.

Step 2: Magic Wand + Vitamin Pod

The magic happens with our magic wand, equipped with a vitamin pod at the tip. When the activation gel and vitamins blend on your skin, it triggers the Bohr effect. This is a process where oxygen is delivered more efficiently to the skin cells, boosting circulation, supporting collagen production, and enhancing nutrient absorption. You’ll feel a slight tingle and bubbly sensation, which is completely normal and part of the activation process.

Step 3: Deep Exfoliation

The second round with the same vitamin pod performs a deep exfoliation. It’s always amazing to see how much dead skin is removed—you can even see it on the towel used to wipe away the serum! This step leaves your skin plump, smooth, and instantly refreshed.

Step 4: Customized Concentrated Serum + LED Therapy

After exfoliation, a concentrated serum tailored to your skin concerns is applied. While this serum works its magic, I use red LED light therapy to stimulate collagen, reduce redness, and enhance overall results.

Step 5: Relaxation and Finishing Touches

To complete your Vitamin Facial, you’ll enjoy:

  • Hand and arm massage

  • Lip mask for hydration and plumpness

  • Jelly mist for a final boost of moisture

  • Calming scalp massage to leave you fully relaxed

Why Clients Love the Vitamin Facial

This facial is a client favorite for many reasons:

  • Incredible exfoliation that reveals smooth, radiant skin

  • Plump, hydrated, and rejuvenated complexion

  • Customized serums that deliver long-lasting results

  • Relaxing, luxurious experience from start to finish
